ArenaNet's Art Director Daniel Dociu gave a presentation at this years GDC that featured the art from the many and various artists working on GuildWars 2. Though I've only been here a short time I was honored that a few of my paintings were included.
You can view the presentation in it's entirely here: Click ! To see the art itself in HD you can view ArenaNet's Youtube Channel. There is a lot of art in there from a lot of great artists, you should check it out.
Usually the silhouettes come last and though they come last - they generally speaking still steal the show. Human figures definitely hit some sort of switch in our brains that makes us focus on them almost more than other forms of contrast.
Perhaps it helps to get the picture to a relative finish and make sure it stand up on it's own merit before working too much on the figures. Most often than not I move the figures around on their own layers or play with them in different positions and poses. It's all reactionary, sort of test, retest and revise - asking myself if it works or not, why or why not and how to improve it.
thx allot man, im actually working on a piece and i have the feel it's almost finished but i think it needs a little bit more (like a silhouette) so i'll start experimenting!
Not a GW2 guy but I love the art. Nice work!!
