Here's a selection of gun sketches from past few days, done for an upcoming indie project. I've never done this sort of thing before but it was a breath of fresh air and a ton of fun.

The encouragement's a fair trade, ain't nothing to get me motivated like a fresh batch of Scholes Brand SpaceUzis. Things go quite lovely, I've the blessed life of little snips of freelance along with enough time to practice. I'll leave out the juiciest bits for when I bother you next over Skype or some such thing.

They're all neat, but the 8th one in row 3 is so flipping rad, that, if it's not featured in that project, an entire new project should be started just to feature it. It's that deliciously sci-fi.

Awesome awesome awesome. Definitely see your touch coming through - similar to the prop pieces you've been doing which I've also enjoyed.

Did you use a toolkit/modular approach like you've been doing w/ your Oppidum work on these? I'm seeing a lot of really crafty and smart recycling here. It's super apparent, and yet still so fresh. Lordy...

Yeah I think so, I use a very similar process with environments. This was a little bit more like a 1:1 kitbash whereas with environments there's often much more mixing.
Thanks for the kind words ! Hopefully the recycling implies similar makes and models as well as manufacturers :) My thought was, paint it modular so it can be built modular in 3d :)

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense. The attention to further down the pipeline is every bit as appealing as the designs themselves too. Smart stuff.

Random masking layer silhouette over random parts underneath?

Also, Tri-Force for the win!!!

1st pass was silhouettes of contemporary icons, 2nd pass was a remix of their genes. This is a selection of the 3rd Generation :)

Tri-force ! Hehe, you're not the only person to say that but I didn't mean to do it haha :D (But in the future, many eastereggs like this !)

I love how all these guns use the UZI as their base yet ended up entirely different from one another. This is fantastic.

Absolutely ! Stay tuned !
As I said in another comment, I'm super grateful to be able to share the work while it's fresh rather than have to wait out the standard 2-3 year production cycle NDA.

Usually stuff like this makes me yawn because, really, the variations seem so minimal and trivial that a gamer isn't really going to care.
But oddly enough, I see your style coming through on these.
Pretty interesting.

And it gives me hope that one can put their thumbprint on the most inane things.

Thanks Shane :) I hear ya for sure, never had much interest in this until just the other day.
The game will most likely have many variants of a core weapon and though subtle I think it feels a lot better if it's at least a notable contrast from this loot to the next loot.
Anyhow, I built them with an extremely modular process to demonstrate how they might be built much the same in 3D so hopefully it's not a huge drain on the production bandwidth.

And yeah ! Giving inane things some life and personality is a fun challenge :)
